My initial idea was to create a more balanced yet minimalist style design (Top Left), but I think gravitated towards the idea of a sunrise with its rays stretching out across the horizon, symbolizing light and hope (Top Right). Another option created was something more on the nose, but it was a magnifying glass glossing over the letters of the organization (Bottom Left). And last but not least is the NCME acronym in Roboto Medium font with all the colors of the original logo incorporated.
After discussions, I came up with the idea to use profile silhouettes superimposed over the sun and its rays. Each individual's silhouette utilizes a brand color of NCME to represent organization's goal to never stop searching for those missing. This design was a big hit with their board and was unanimously selected as the new brand mark of the NCME.
