This was a joint campaign with Tiramisu for Breakfast, McDonald's, and the RVA Lions Australian Rules Football Club. I was tasked with creating a flyer and raffle ticket to promote the screening of an Australian sports comedy called, The Merger at the Byrd Theatre in Richmond, VA. The event was being held in celebration of World Refugees Day. My idea for the design was to approach it from a standpoint of familiarity. Aussie rules football is not well known in the U.S. So it struck me to advertise the event as if someone were attending a sports match. I thought about old football programs from the 1960s and 1970s; and viola! Using something very American, nostalgic, and wholesome to promote something unfamiliar but yet interesting and inviting was an intriguing challenge.
